Good morning Dr. Passailaigue, teaching staff, and dear students.

It’s an honor for me to be part of this community, in which you – dear students – become the protagonists during this pleasant learning journey. My speech, this time, is addressed to each one of you, and to start, I would like to share with you three reasons why I am here: responsibility, purpose and legacy. I believe we all have a responsibility to share those things that produce positive results in our lives. I experience a strong sense of purpose each time I share those things and results with young people. And I see this opportunity as part of my legacy to you.

Attending school is not always enough; it must be our responsibility to educate ourselves in what really grabs our attention the most: studying and discovering fields that inspire us in order to become a better version of ourselves. My life started to change for better the day I realized that my education was my responsibility. Now, I choose what I invest my time learning about. If we allow others to choose for us, and their choices are not aligned to our heart’s desires, then we will feel a lack of purpose and meaning in our lives. Keep in mind that it is necessary to be focused on the target and finding that focus requires looking into the future. It requires vision, and very little of value happens without vision.

A powerful vision is a goal plus an action plan to achieve the goal. Thinking by itself will not make things happen. Thinking will start influencing your actions, but thoughts alone do not create success. Creating an action plan and then acting on it is far more powerful than thoughts alone. Success may start in your thoughts, but it is backed up by actions.

To achieve success, we can decide to have faith or be afraid. My legacy: choose faith; it is your greatest asset. So dear students, welcome back! Enjoy this second term, and keep in mind that a successful school year is not only a matter of grades, but also a dose of responsibility, purpose, willing and commitment.

Buenos días Dr. Passailaigue, personal docente y estimados estudiantes.

Es un honor para mí ser parte de esta comunidad Ecomundo, en la que ustedes, queridos estudiantes, se convierten en los protagonistas de este placentero viaje del aprendizaje. Mi discurso, esta vez, estará dirigido a cada uno de ustedes.

Para iniciar, quisiera compartir con ustedes las razones por las que me encuentro ahora en Ecomundo: responsabilidad, propósito y legado. Creo que todos tenemos la responsabilidad de compartir aquellas cosas que han sido positivas en nuestras vidas. Cada vez que las comparto con personas jóvenes siento un gran sentido de pertenencia y propósito. A su vez, percibo esta oportunidad como parte de mi legado hacia ustedes.

Asistir a la escuela no siempre es suficiente; es nuestra responsabilidad educarnos a diario en lo que realmente nos llama la atención, descubrir campos que nos inspiran y que nos permitan ser la mejor versión de nosotros mismos. Mi vida empezó a cambiar el día que asumí que mi educación era mi responsabilidad. Si permitimos que otros escojan por nosotros, y sus elecciones no están alineadas al deseo de nuestro corazón, viviremos con carencia de pertenencia y propósito. Recuerden que siempre será necesario mantenerse enfocado, y encontrar el enfoque requiere ver más allá; requiere visión.

Una buena visión es una meta más un plan de acción para alcanzarla. Pensar sólo en la meta no hará que las cosas sucedan. Sin embargo, pensar en una meta influirá en nuestras acciones. Crear un plan de acción y ejecutarlo será mucho más enriquecedor que tener solamente pensamientos. De esta forma, el éxito se siembra en nuestros pensamientos siempre que estén respaldados por nuestras acciones orientadas a alcanzarlo.

Para alcanzar el éxito, podemos decidir entre tener fe o tener miedo. Mi legado: tengan fe; es un mejor activo. De esta manera queridos estudiantes, les damos la más cordial bienvenida a este segundo quimestre. Disfruten y recuerden que un exitoso año lectivo no es cuestión solamente de calificaciones, sino de una dosis de responsabilidad, propósito, predisposición y compromiso.
